The verdict is of suspended two weeks of prison (Remember: four of the defendants already spent three weeks in custody). That means: They are free now and can enter Denmark at any time, as can be read on various sites via Twitter. The idea of an attack against the queen was rejected by the court.
Huffington Post furthermore reports that Greenpeace Nordic is fined with 75.000 Kroners (over 10.000 EUR).

Die Strafe beträgt zwei Wochen auf Bewährung (Zur Erinnerung: Vier der angeklagten waren schon drei Wochen in Untersuchungshaft gewesen). Sie sind nun also frei und dürfen auch jederzeit nach Dänemark einreisen, wie über Twitter auf englisch und spanisch gelesen werden kann. Der Vorwurf des Angriffs auf die Königin wurde vom Gericht zurückgewiesen.
Die Huffington Post berichtet des weiteren, dass Greenpeace Nordic 75 000 Kronen Strafe zahlen muss, also über 10 000 EUR.

Heute erschien sowohl in der Neues Deutschland als auch in der taz ein Interview mit Juan López de Uralde, einem der Angeklagten im Greenpeace-Prozess.

Today the German dailies Neues Deutschland and taz published an interview with Juan López de Uralde, one of the defendants in the Greenpeace trial. He speaks about the trial and about his time in jail. He says the police didn’t investigate anything while they were in jail, and therefore Greenpeace gave them the information about who else was involved in the preparation of the action, so that the four people arrested could not be kept in jail under pretext any longer.

The sentence is scheduled for Monday 12.30 pm.
The State Attorney demands two months of prison on probation and a fine of 3,000 Danish Kroners (over 400 €) for each of the eleven defendants, and a fine of 200,000 Kroners for Greenpeace Nordic. For foreigners also an expulsion for six years is demanded.

Das Urteil soll Montag 12.30 h gesprochen werden.
Die Staatsanwaltschaft fordert zwei Monate Haft auf Bewährung und eine Strafe von 3000 Dänischen Kronen (über 400 €) für alle der elf Angeklagten. Für Greenpeace Nordic wird zusätzlich eine Strafe von 200 000 Kronen gefordert, und für die ausländischen Angeklagten ein Einreiseverbot von sechs Jahren.

(b4/en) The Greenpeace case will continue with a new, and maybe last day in court this Friday. The first day in court for the 11 Greenpeace members was in June.
One of the defendants told cop15antirep:
“Most likely we will get a jail sentence. As you may have heard we are also charged for having insulted the Queen of Denmark. So if we get convicted for that we will be the first ones in history!”

(de) Der Prozess gegen elf Greepeace-Aktivist_innen geht am Freitag in einen weiteren, und möglicherweise letzten Verhandlungstag. Der erste fand im Juni statt. Unter anderem wirft die Staatsanwaltschaft den Greenpeace-Aktivist_innen sogar “Beleidigung der dänischen Königin” vor (siehe ältere Einträge).
“Sehr wahrscheinlich werden wir Gefängnisstrafen erhalten”, teilte eine betroffene Person cop15antirep mit. “Wir wären die ersten Menschen in der dänischen Geschichte, die wegen Beleidigung der Königin verurteilt würden.”

The 1st of June Tannie and Stine were spoken guilty for inciting violence against police and fence at the Bella Center, by shouting: “Push!”
They will go to jail for two months, as confirms Climate Justice Action.

Am 1. Juni wurden Tannie und Stine schuldig gesprochen, am Bella Center zu Gewalt gegen Polizei und Zaun angestachelt zu haben, indem sie “Push!” riefen, also: “Drückt!” (siehe Artikel in der taz )
Sie werden dafür mindestens zwei Monate ins Gefängnis gehen, bestätigt Climate Justice Action.

Die taz hat in ihrer ausgabe vom 10.3. einen artikel über das verfahren gegen die greenpeace-leute gebracht, die zum gala-essen der dänischen königin gingen – ohne eine einladung zu haben. Der vorwurf nun: “Majestätsbeleidigung”
Der text ist ganz amüsant.

German daily Taz published an article about the case against Greenpeace activists who went to the Danish queen’s supper without an invitation. The case is being considered as being ridiculous by many people in Denmark (also by politicians), partly because one charge is based on one very old article of the penal code that condemns “insulting the queen”.

Protest gegen die Verurteilung von gewaltlosen
Klima-Aktivistinnen in Dänemark durch das Amtsgericht Kopenhagen.

Am 25. November 2010 hat das Amtsgericht Kopenhagen Stine Gry Johnassen
und Tannie Nyboe vom Bündnis “Climate Justice Action” zu 4 Monaten Haft
auf Bewährung verurteilt. Die beiden Frauen waren während des
Kopenhagener Klimagipfels im Dezember 2009 Sprecher_innen des
Reclaim-Power-Aktionstages, bei dem dazu aufgerufen wurde, das
Konferenz-Zentrum eigenhändig zu betreten und dort an der Versammlung
der Vertreter_innen der “Assembly of the Peoples” teilzunehmen. Sie
wurden nun schuldig befunden, Organisatorinnen und Rädelsführerinnen von
Gewalt und Krawallen gewesen zu sein.

Dieser Urteilsspruch kommt einer Verhöhnung gewaltloser Proteste durch
das Gericht gleich. Gewalt ging am 16. Dezember 2009 ausschließlich und
nachweislich von der Polizei aus. Eine Massenklage wegen Verletzungen
und Demütigung von Demonstrant_innen durch die Polizei ist zur Zeit
ebenfalls vor dem Amtsgericht Kopenhagen anhängig.

Kundgebung vor der Dänischen Botschaft und lasst uns gemeinsam zeigen:
Wir stehen zu den Protesten, an denen wir letztes Jahr teilgenommen

Climate spokespersons sentenced guilty: This is a giant defeat for
democracy

Today, the Copenhagen District Court found Stine Gry Jonassen and Tannie
Nyboe guilty in charges of being organisers and instigators of violence and
vandalism. The incident took place on 16th of December at Bella Center last
year during the climate summit in Copenhagen. The two women were sentenced
to four months of probation. One of the judges disagreed with the verdict
and thought the accused should be freed of all charges.

Stine Gry and Tannie Nyboe both acted as spokespersons for the Global
Network “Climate Justice Action” (CJA).

During the Cop15 last year, CJA organised several non-violent civil
disobedience protests, including the “Reclaim Power – Push for Climate
Justice” rally on 16th of December. The two women were both the public
facesof the movement and
they are now found guilty in charges of being organisers and instigators of
violence and riots. They are both deeply shocked by the outcome of the trial
and are now considering an appeal.

Stine Gry considers the whole trial absurd:

*”There has been a clear political rationale with these trials. It is
obvious that Tannie and I were accused because we acted as public faces of
the movement. This trial sends a significant message: if you have the nerve
to stand up and express a critical point of view of society, the authorities
will do whatever they can to silence you. It is absurd that a large public
movement as CJA is criminalised because they – as one of the few – dared to
criticise the ongoing climate negotiations during the summit; especially in
the light of how poorly things turned out with the negotiations and how
criticisable Denmark’s role was. The verdict is a defeat for democracy
because it hinders politically engaged people in using their democratic
right to demonstrate and express themselves critically.” *

Tannie explains: *”It** is an evident political attempt to limit the
opportunity to criticise the negotiations during the summit and the whole
bedrock of the climate process. The right to demonstrate is an
essentialpart of democracy, despite it is the existing political
system that is being
criticised. I really hope that people will still use their democratic
rightto express themselves critically, though one might risk being
accused personally by the court. However, I fear that this case will scare
people from protesting and organising themselves politically in the
future. Consequently
it is just as big a defeat for the political work and democracy in
Denmark,as it is for us personally.”

*Background:*

Climate Justice Action (CJA) is a global network of social movements and
groups, which mobilised and called out for protests during the climate
summit in Copenhagen in December last year, in order to challenge the
insubstantial political negotiations at the Bella Centre and demanding just
solutions to the climate problems. On 16th of December, CJA organised the
demonstration “Reclaim Power – Push for Climate Justice” to give voice to
the people mostly affected by climate changes – the same people who were not
heard inside the Bella Centre.

At the time, Stine Gry and Tannie were spokespersons for the movement and
argued for the right to protest and for the freedom of speech. They are now
found guilty in planning the “Reclaim Power” demonstration and of plotting
violence against an official in function, of severe vandalism, of serious
disturbance of public peace and order, and of illegal trespassing.
Several hundred people were arrested in relation to the action, but none of
these have since been accused anything illegal.

The trial of the two spokespersons took place in Copenhagen City Court on 6
th, 27th, and 28th of October 2010 at 9.30 AM. The verdict was spoken at Thu, 26th of November by Copenhagen City Court.
